    The School of Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest colleges in Southwest Jiaotong University, formerly known as the Mechanical Department of Tangshan Road and Mining School, founded in 1919. Over the past century, a large number of renowned experts, scholars, entrepreneurs, and management talents at home and abroad have been cultivated, with academicians such as Shen Zhiyun and Zhai Wanming as outstanding representatives. Since the reform and opening up, the college has achieved outstanding results in teaching, scientific research, and discipline construction. As the host unit, we have won 1 second prize in National Natural Science, 3 first prizes in National Teaching Achievements, and 14 first prizes in Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology or Teaching Achievements. We have established the first national level innovative research group and the first batch of national level mechanical infrastructure teaching teams in the field of mechanical engineering in universities across the country; In 2007, the discipline of mechanical engineering became one of the first national key first level disciplines approved by the Academic Degrees Office of the State Council.
